History of Pensonic
The idea for Pensonic came from the founder named Dato ‘Seri Chew Weng Khak. The small business in Balik Pulau, Penang by selling electrical and electronic equipment on a small scale made him confident in building his own brand.
Starting from a shop selling and repairing electrical equipment, Dato ’Seri Chew Weng Khak has branded his company as Pensonic Sales and Services Sdn. Bhd. In 1982.
How Did the Name Pensonic Came Out?
Pensonic is a combination of 2 words namely Penang and Sonic. Penang is a state in northern Malaysia and the word sonic means audible. As a native of Penang, Dato ‘Seri Chew Weng Khak took the abbreviation from Penang which is’ Pen’.
For anyone who is a native of Penang must feel proud because this electrical and electronic goods have been founded by a native of Penang who is full of dedication and vision.
Keat Radio Co. Sdn. Bhd. was incorporated as a public listed company in 1977.
In 1984, Pensonic was registered as a trademark in Malaysia, including in 20 countries, while trying to make the local brand marketable in the international market.
In 1988, Pensonic Group started manufacturing and marketing electrical appliances for home use and went on to become history as the first home use electrical goods made in Malaysia.
Pensonic Today
Pensonic today has made history by having 10 branches with over 900 distributors throughout Malaysia. The local brand has also exported to more than 30 countries in ASEAN, East and West Asia as well as the Middle East complete with manufacturing facilities, warehouses, showrooms and customer service centers.
Apart from the inhouse brand which is already famous on the world stage, Pensonic Group also owns Lebensstil Kollektion from Germany and acquired Cornell from the United States.
In addition, the Pensonic Group holds sole distribution rights in Malaysia for internationally renowned home appliance brands namely Morphy Richards of the United Kingdom and Princess of Holland, GE Appliances of USA.
